When I was young , I wasn’t exactly very particular about my hair unlike other girls. I know for a fact that IF you try to fix my hair now, just wait for a few seconds it will be undone . . . like MAGIC!
Now that I’ve grown up . . . I’m turning conscious with how I look.
I’ve been wearing my hair straight since eons and eons ago, though the length varies.

I want to try perming my hair since it’s the “in” thing, especially here in the Philippines we have a lot of Chinese & Korean students and of course Japanese tourists. Anyway, there are 2 types of perming now a days one is the old school way of perming while the other one is called digital perm. SO what exactly are the differences?
COLD PERM
Let’s talk about the normal (or the perm that we really know) first. A normal perm or what others call “cold perm”, makes the wave most prominent when the hair is wet and loose when it is dry. The hair tends to look moist. It is the best for those who have a cold permed hair to put the styling gel or mousse when the hair is wet then air-drying it, this process makes the wave most prominent. As the this perming process is called it doesn’t need to be heated in order for the products to react.
A cold perm or normal perm does not work well with fine hair or coarse hair. However, most of the problems can be covered by the right selection of the perm solution and the hair stylist’s technique.
HOT PERM
A digital perm, is also called “hot perm” because digital perm actually requires heat to activate. Digital perm makes the wave most prominent when the hair is dry, and loose when it is wet. You can actually create the dry and curly look of the curl iron or the hot curler. Digital perms thermally recondition the hair . . . the chemicals and processing are similar to a straight perm. Your hair often feels softer, smoother and shinier after a digital perm than it had before.
Styling digital permed hair is very easy, since the hair already tends to turn wavy when it is dry, all you need to do is to simply dry it with a blow dryer then run your hand through it to make the curl. If you set the curls in the morning at the end of the day when you think or feel that the wave is loosening you can easily revive the curl just by using your finger and curling it again.
Lastly a hot perm can work well with coarse hair, but not as well with fine and straight hair. However, most of the problems can be covered by the right selection of the perm solution and the hair stylist’s technique.
CONCLUSION:
We now all know that digital perm needs requires heat, that’s why digital perm can not be used close to the scalp. If you like to enjoy loose waves / curls and straight hair a cold perm would be better suited for you. Also one of the Digital perm’s strength is that it won’t get easily straightened even by blow-drying your hair. The digital-perm is recommended for people who doesn’t have much time styling at home or don’t know how to style their hair.
Now if you want fashion forward curls with lots of volume and also to have the curls closer to the roots “cold perm” is your friend. Hot perm can also create tight waves, that makes those very cute curls , which digital perm can not. If you are the type that loves to style her hair and has the time to do so, cold perm is recommended for you.
