When I read English (American) books and comics or watch movies or cartoons, there’s always this mini war between male and female children. The boys tend to be aggressive, disrespectful and rude to girls. Whenever they are asked “why”, they answer that it’s because girls are stupid.
As I was growing up, I never did have that problem with my male counterparts. Maybe, because we were more educated and we play peacefully. Or maybe because I was such a tomboy before that they were scared of me. Whatever it is, I’m happy I never have gone through with it.
Philippines is actually a patriarchal society. But thanks to the modernization, things are getting more equal . . . Women have the same benefits and enjoys social status that weren’t exactly there before. I can say I’m very happy to live in this age , coz now I can throw rocks back at boys too!
